Hi, I’m Amber!

I’m a proud mother of three, and my journey through motherhood has profoundly shaped my passion for supporting mothers. In 2022, I completed my Wise Woman doula training. During my pregnancy and the free birth of my third child in the beauty of the Shuswap, I felt called to deepen my commitment to the birthing community. I recently graduated from Josee’s Unassisted Path Mentorship as a Birthkeeper. I am honored to now offer guidance and support to individuals navigating their pregnancies and births.

My own experiences have been pivotal in shaping the way I approach birth work. The birth of my first child was a deeply altering experience, entering motherhood with trauma to process. I experienced postpartum anxiety and rage, and I often refer to my first birth as an “unnecessarian.” It was a challenging experience—I didn’t know what I didn’t know, and I wish I’d sought the expertise of doula.

When I became pregnant with my second child, I knew I wanted a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), even though my surgical report recommended otherwise. Determined to take back control of my birthing experience, I immersed myself in VBAC and natural birth communities. I also hired a doula, not only to support me but also to help ease my husband’s nerves. I needed someone knowledgeable and trustworthy who could guide me, especially if I became stuck in one position or if labour stalled. With her support, and the knowledge I gained, I achieved a hospital VBAC that left me feeling empowered.

By the time I was pregnant with my third child, I was ready to embrace my birthing power fully. My free birth allowed me to reclaim the autonomy I hadn’t felt with my first two births. Every decision was mine, and the experience was radically transformative.
